MAY 2016

Ministry in Nairobi: MamaTunza Children’s Home; May 21st

My Friend Henry and the wifeand little Mishael jetted in on 18^th of May from Canada. We have been schooling together since 2011 before they flew to Canada in July 2013 for further studies. This was a moment I have been waiting for since we were to embark on various ministry outreaches while they were here in Kenya.

On May 23^rd we visited Mama Tunza Children’s Home in Ngong hills. We have been doing ministry here before The Henry’s went to Canada. We found the kids waiting for us with so much excitement. We were here today to have fun with the kids as well as distribute gifts. What a Joy it was to bring smiles to these young souls. Some kids were very young and vulnerable two years ago, it was a joy therefore for us to meet them in perfect health having grown up. We thank God for availing sponsors who have worked their way to meet their basic needs of food clothing and education .
 

Nakuru: Ronaka Secondary School.

On May 27^th on a Friday we were due to engage in a weekend of Ministry in Nakuru and our first stop was at Ronaka secondary school a day school in Langalanga estate in Nakuru .We were invited to minister on God’s love. This mission was done in conjunction with Kenya Youth for Christ.

Henry ministered with music as he encouraged the kids of a father in heaven who hears us and cares for us. 

We thank God for these kids who were left yearning for more; we know that good seed was planed in the hearts of these young souls.

 

 

 

 

   

Childcare children centre

The following day we visited Children Centre in Free area Nakuru. We planned to spend the Saturday with kids playing and eating with them. Sports and music evangelism really worked well in this station. It was such a glorious moment we had with them as well as times of refreshing for the home which has been having some challenges of late.

Rohi Girls

May 29^th our weekend of ministry climaxed with an invitation to speak in a Sunday service. It wasa pleasant opportunity to come back to this pleasant place two months later. The girls received us with exuberant joy.

Henry ministered through his songs and gave a powerful message of hope to the girls who were left yearning for more. We thank God for such receptive souls that we found here.

JUNE

St Christopher’s youth Rally

The second round of ministry with the henrys came on 12^thJune at St Christopher’s ACK Church. We were invited to ministry to the young people drawn from different church branches. What an awesome time it was full of entertainment and powerful music and sermon as we preached from the life of Samson. We thank God for the seed of radical love of God that was sown in this place .

Nakuru School

 

As I took time to gather myself up and restrategise after the henrys went back to Canada, another awesome opportunity came with Nakuru school knocking . Ministry of the word was awesome in this school as I encouraged the girls of the awesome faithfulness of God in making us cross over the uncertainties of life. The message of Israelites crossing over the red sea in exodus 14:13,,, was ourmain text.

Weekend Challenge for Kids (Jawabuschool)

9^th to 11^th July was dedicated to a weekend of fun and Music,poetry and the word of God to the young kids of Jawabu school.It was the first of its Kind ever to be done in this region of Kabarak, 23km from Nakuru town. We bless the Lord for the 155kids who embraced God in a unique way as well as the community around who came to be part of this great initiative

Nakuru Central Secondary

We as Moved by Love foundation have been doing peer counselling in Nakuru Central Secondary school in collaboration with Kenya youth for christ. We have been on a four months Journey with this kids teaching them sexuality, self-esteem, awareness of Hiv/Aids and other sexual transmitted diseases. We have had relationship coaching on matters to do with Relationship and boundaries.

We also look forward to collaborate with youth for Christ in counselling young mothers and teenage school drop outs in Pondamali slums in Nakuru. We will continue partnering with Youth for Christ as Moved by love foundation in reaching out to orphanages around Nakuru county and beyond as God enables us ;ministering through acts of practical love of sharing christ as well as meeting the basic needs of poor kids living in these homes and who have not yet been sponsored.

JULY 2016

Rohi girls

This school has become our home owing to the many times we have been invited to impact these girls. Being a partly sponsored school , this school Caters for the less fortunate in the society, girls who have gone through physical and sexual abuse as well as other challenges that would have rendered them helpless like the post election violence experienced in Kenya in 2008.

We have now a glorious opportunity to start a discipleship programme in the school which we began this month. The girls do need special lifeskills too like communication skills, self esteem and peer counseling.

Team Wonders kids : Meru Kenya

On 22^nd July a New chapte in ministry unfolded for me as I travelled to Meru. I have been captivated by kids more and more and so as My Friend Pastor Isaac requested me to help him in his Children’s ministry I couldn’t hesitate but dedicate my two weeks to this beloved venture.

We thank God for the exiting three months we have had as Moved by Love foundation. We thank God for our friends and supporters who have continued to stand by us. I personally feel that you have been a great partner in the work of the gospel

March Ministry report

Its been a while since I last wrote on this page.
Well this year my focus will be mainly on missions and ministry reporting.
Hope you find this march ministry report worthwhile reading through.

ROHI GIRLS :4th-6thMarch

The month of March started with a bang as it brought with it many opportunities for ministry. This first weekend was for a weekend challenge at Rohi girls’ school. A weekend challenge as it’s known in Kenya is a weekend dedicated for ministry among high schools, colleges and other institutions. These weekends are full of activities like praise and worship, prayers, small interactive group sessions, games among many other activities. We planned for this mission as Kenya youth for Christ , youth group in which am a volunteer in conjunction with a band called ‘heart of worship’. We ere 10 in number.

We arrived at rohi Girls on a Friday night where we had an explosive session of praise and worship and a sermon to bring out the theme of our weekend which was “oh what a great salvation!” from heb 2:3a”How shall we escape if we neglect such great salvation?” Our passion and prayer was that the young girls would grasp and understand the manner with which Christ has accomplished for us such a great salvation and what it means in their lives.

On Friday night we emphasized on our theme for the weekend as Kevin preached from the book of Luke 15 about the three parables; the parable of the lost sheep, the parable of the lost coin and the story of the prodigal son. The aim was to paint a picture how by such a great salvation we who were lost have now been brought back home. It was important to instill value and dignity to these young souls by understanding that even though you are lost and troubled in the world you never lost value that you still belong to your father.

The Group sessions

On Saturday we spiced up the sessions with a group session where we sought to tackle various issues affecting these teenagers in high school. This is where we engaged in discussions which centered on self significance, self acceptance, relationship and boundaries and sex. These sessions were so instrumental in helping the girls open up about issues of life. we divided the girls into four groups of form one’s up to form four. The groups were further divided into two smaller groups per class for the purpose of making the sessions be more up-close and candid.
Each group had three discussions questions to tackle which were uniform across all the groups. Its in these sessions that we found the need to affirm and instill value and dignity in this generation. A lot of young people are having self esteem issues. They need to be affirmed and encouraged to be the best they can be and the best that God created them to be. We were encouraged by the mature manner in which the young girls maneuvered through relationship related questions and case studies. These were girls who proved to be responsible and we urged them on to be confident and to know that their sexuality is a gift from God and something very priceless.

Praise and Worship Celebration

The group sessions did wonders to open these girls up as it was apparent in the way the praise and worship sessions were explosive ,done with passion and youthly zeal. Saturday night was awesome as the girls showcased their talents in singing and dancing.
 

The Sermons and Response

The first sermon on Friday By Kevin Gitonga did well to introduce the theme for the weekend challenge .The three parables from the book of Luke 15 brought the theme of salvation in a clear and precise manner. On Saturday night Kevin shakes Tuwei shared about his life and the far that God has brought him. From just a young person after high school in the Lord to being a lecturer in Chuka university. On Sunday Ruth Nekura brought the the theme of salvation from Creation story to redemption. She also spoke about the young ladies from Numbers 27 who refused to back down from the oppression of the culture that was surrounding them.
Sunday afternoon was the climax session with high powered praise nd worship and prayer sessions thanks to heart of worship band which took us through this .
We thank God for the 39 young souls that God brought to himself. We also thank God for many girls who were delivered from their pasts and many whose confidence were restored. All honor and glory goes back to God for such a successful weekend.

MARCH 7TH-19TH :RAKAI UGANDA

Immediately after the Weekend challenge at Rohi girls High school, there was no time to rest for me personally. I Was to join the ‘team operation Power purpose and plenty’ and together we set on a journey to Uganda where were to minister for the following two weeks .

The journey for me started on Monday night 10pm from nakuru. The rest of the team had connected from Nairobi, Kenya’s capital and so we met in Kampala the following morning 8am Where a further 200km journey to South Western Uganda awaited us. After three Hours drive we arrived in Rakai district, tired but ecstatic and fired for what would be two weeks of great ministry.

Our program included ministering in three venues through church conference s , praise and worship extravaganza and movie sessions in the night.

We mqnouvered successfully through the four venues as we ministered the message of life and hope to the community.
What couldn't escape our hearts and minds is the dire level of poverty and orphaned families we saw.
In this particular church in Buyamba ,the pastor singlehandedly cares for 150 orphaned kids in his church and has gone ahead to initiate a school and a feeding program with his limited resources.

I saw firsthand how during the weekend the wooden structure which served as the church Hall being converted into classrooms for pre school kids through to grade three.
If you hail from urban places here in Kenya and more posh and lush neighborhoods of the west am sure these scenes must be equally shocking and encouraging to you.

After we came personally committed to do something to turn around and give this great initiative a great lease of life. I.prepared a small story calling it project rakai as well as creating an online fundraising platform with M-changa  to engage my friends and the little connections I have to raise support that will be dedicatee to change the lives of these little ones.

it was a great month

Report July

I thank God who saw me finally graduating from Africa International University. It has been four years full of life changing experiences. 4^th July 2015 was a summation of four years in this theological institution; having graduated with a bachelor’s degree in theology, what I can say is that this is just a beginning of great things to come.

The month of July saw trinity chapel  and Kenya youth for Christ receiving and hosting visitors from the Rwanda youth for Christ. Our visitors arrived on 9^th July 2015

    

                

Together we toured five schools, a girl’s probation center and a remand home for five days. The main focus of our mission was peer counseling; teaching young people abstinence from sexual behaviors as well as presenting the radical gospel of Christ clothed in a youth friendly language.

Homabay, Karachuonyo and Rangwe

Later in the month from 25^th July I embarked on my quarterly ministry in Homabay County. We have been embarking on a mission of disclepship and evangelism at unveiling ministry in Homabay with Pastor Ely Odhiambo. This time we decided to take it a notch higher by screening Jesus film and passion of Christ in the distant land of Karachuonyo by the Lake Victoria.

We were met with joy and jubilation from the villagers as we embarked on lighting up the skies first by dancing to the nice tunes as was projected at night. This was a young church which the congregants met under a tree .

The church in rachuonyo has very receptive hearts, everybody received the gospel and everyone wanted us to come again, they prepared for us delicious meal of mumi(fish) with ugali. Such experience of warm reception made us to promise to come after one week to yet again set up another film at their trading center.

This month has yet seen abundance of fruits from the mission field. It’s a time to be encouraged to reach out the more with the Love of God. The harvest is plenty but the laborers are few, ooh how I pray that the lord of harvest sends out his laborers to the harvest field. If you can’t manage spending time in the mission field, why not send someone , and in this way participate in the great commission. August is here and am looking forward for more endeavors in the mission field. Thanks for your prayers and support.

Sun Burst : The song

i have been an ardent fan of Hillsong united since 2007. I remember the first album i listened to was 'Mighty to save'-2007 then came Savior King- 2008, Faith, Hope and Love-2009, Beautiful exchange-2010, God is able 2011, Cornerstone-2012, Glorious ruins and Aftermath 2013, Zion 2014. Now in 2015 we have Empires album which is completely blowing away all my mental faculties, sweeping over the entirety of who iam.

Today i just want to review the song Sunburst from this album.
this song highlights the way God’s love and power has dawned on us like the sun pervading the entirety of all that we are like a sunburst . In order to capture the theme of this song we must delve into the dictionaries and ask ourselves, what is a sunburst ?

a sudden brief appearance of the full sun from behind clouds

So Gods love in totality suddenly beams in full in an appearance behind the clouds.

The first verse goes like this

John 1:16-17 And of his fullness have all we received, and grace for grace.

That old dispensation of the law was a shadow, for the law was a shadow of the things to come (col 2 :16-17). His fullness drew us from that shadow towards his horizon. The law was an administrator to lead us to Christ . Now that we have Christ the son, lets follow him.

Every human being, every soul upon being launched on the face of the earth engages in the long daunting journey of self actualization. We all have been born in a world that is itching for the fullest manifestation of redemption. The creation is in earnest search of its morning. Every human effort to improve life, to have a tranquil life free of debt, hunger, poverty, etc is an earnest search of a new morning.

2samuel23: 4as the light of the morning when the sun rises, A morning without clouds, When the tender grass springs out of the earth, Through sunshine after rain.'(NASB)

PSALM 103:6My soul waits for the Lord More than the watchmen for the morning; Indeed, more than the watchmen for the morning.

Weeping may lat for a night but joy comes with the morning

Our night represents dispensation of the dark days without hope and without a God.

Every heart wants the glaze of the morning sun and basking in the everlasting rays of his eternal love is an enticement the soul cannot resist.

For the Light has come
And the night cannot understand it
As the world keeps spinning
This hope within us is rising

Halleluyah for the son of God has dawned on us with healing in his wings. He came to seek and to save that which is lost. He came to call the sons of men from the pits of death to the sit of life. What more can we say? What shall happen to a man who neglects such a great salvation? This even the thickest of darkness couldn’t stand. This singular act of love has left the world forever hoping, forever rejoicing .

And like the rising sun
Wake up Your light in us
And we will shine like grace
As we call on Your Name

Lets rise us then:

Isa 60:1Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.

Jesus is the light of the world. He came so that we don’t have to stumble in the dark any more , he came and created a new day called ‘today’ (heb 4) that day my friend has no darkness in it. That day pervades any dark area of ur life and lives us glowing in the light of his glory .

sunburst

exploits from Uganda

on 8^th of June 2015, some four young men set out on a trip to Kampala Uganda. We initially had thought that the said destination of our mission trip was going to be some couple of kilometers from Kampala but little did we know that our journey would lead us to the far end of Uganda near the Tanzania border.

After roughly 24hours of being in the road we finally arrived at Rakai district a 200km drive from the city of exhausted. As usual we were tired and so our hosts entreated us to rest only after we were served with a sumptuous meal of matoke with chicken stew.

The theme of our meetings was ‘Power Purpose and plenty with the aim of unveiling people to their God given destiny , revealing God and his power to make us complete and successful in life. We also were unlocking our potential in discovering our identity in Christ and the abundant life God has designed for each and everyone of us.

Our sessions included seminars during the day and revival meetings at night .

People in Uganda are so friendly and receptive and so our experience was life changing for all of us. It was amazing how all sorts of people , young and old responded to the gospel. It was also amazing how the delegates from 14 churches worked in unison and agreed to open up their areas for more missionary activities, fellowships , etc

 Our special thanks goes to all made this mission a success.

We thank God for connecting us with many friends in Uganda and surely we will be back for more complete programs like a bible school, children’s ministry among many other ventures.

We also experienced many miracles signs and wonders, even the blind recovering their sight, the lame leaving their stretchers and walking again. It was an experience that cannot be confined in the words of pen and paper.

Special mention goes to pastor Geoffrey and the glory of Christ ministries who allowed us to visit three of their churches in dwanirro sub county during our period there. I personally cant forget the kesha we held on Friday night as we saw multiple of young people give their lives to Christ, for sure there’s a great need for discipleship and I savor the opportunity to visit again and embark on that mission .
